In April 2001, the Department of Health established the National Cancer Research Network and Sussex was designated as one of 34 networks within the UK, aimed at improving patient recruitment into cancer clinical trials.
The Sussex Cancer Research Network (SCRN) was created in October 2001 including Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals, East Sussex Healthcare Trust and Worthing & Southlands Hospitals NHS Trusts. This research framework is managed by the Clinical Lead for Research and the Research Network Manager.
