Dr Rob Deery takes up a new role one day a week from 9^th November 2011as GP Executive Lead for Sussex Cancer Network, to work in concert with GP Primary Care Cancer Leads. Rob’s task is to lead on the nationally funded GP Leadership and Local Involvement Initiative across SCN conveying the need to increase the number of referrals for possible cancer, to improve the 2 Week Wait conversion rate (ie % of referrals which result in a cancer diagnosis) and reduce emergency admissions.

Rob’s role forms an important strand of National/Local Cancer Awareness & Early Diagnosis Initiative (N/LAEDI) including communications, engagement with national colorectal cancer awareness campaign in January 2012 and building links with Clinical Commissioning Consortia. Rob will work with Network staff to develop and deliver a detailed programme of work with GPs, Primary Care staff and acute cancer service providers across the Network.
